Lamea Association wins AGFUND Prize for second consecutive year

Lamea Association has been awarded the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) International Prize for Human Development Projects for the second consecutive year, marking a new international achievement that highlights the leadership of youth initiatives in the Kingdom of Bahrain and their ability to deliver sustainable development impact.

The achievement supports Bahrain’s comprehensive development, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and guided by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

On this occasion, Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, said the consecutive wins reflect the Association’s excellence in providing a pioneering model for empowering Bahraini youth.

Minister Tawfiqi noted that this achievement demonstrated the impact of the vision and support of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), whose strategic initiatives invest in young people, strengthen their role in national development, and foster an environment of innovation and excellence.

For her part, Shaikha Dwa bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Lamea Association, expressed her pride in the achievement, noting that the support provided by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad had served as a fundamental pillar for developing the Association’s programmes and enhancing its effectiveness in identifying young people's talent and turn their abilities into tangible achievements.

Shaikha Dwa bint Khalid said winning the award for the second consecutive year recognises the team’s efforts and motivates the Association to expand its programmes’ impact.

It is worth noting that the AGFUND Prize is one of the most prestigious global awards in the fields of human development and sustainability. It recognises innovative initiatives that contribute to addressing development challenges and creating sustainable impact, with a focus on investing in human capital and empowering youth and women.

The achievement further reinforces Lamea Authority’s standing as a leading national initiative that promotes active participation of young people in Bahrain’s development.
