Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, and Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, inaugurated the first Student Agricultural Innovations Exhibition 2025, held at Bahrain Polytechnic.
Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), was present.
This exhibition is the first of its kind in the Kingdom and is dedicated to intermediate and secondary school students. It aims to showcase their ideas and innovations in modern agriculture, agricultural technology, sustainability, and recycling, while also promoting agricultural awareness and developing students’ scientific research and innovation skills.
Minister Al Mubarak affirmed that organising this exhibition supports youth creativity in key sectors, particularly agriculture. He noted that the strong student participation reflects Bahraini youths’ growing awareness of the role of innovation in strengthening the food security system.
He added that the students’ innovations demonstrate their ability to offer practical, value-added solutions that enhance agricultural sustainability, in line with Bahrain’s plans to advance the sector through modern technologies. He also highlighted the students’ clear enthusiasm and interest, which strengthens confidence in their potential to contribute to the Kingdom’s future agricultural development.
Dr. Juma affirmed that this exhibition reflects the partnership between the education and agriculture sectors in Bahrain. He said that promoting an innovation-driven approach among students is a key pillar in developing the education system and linking it to national development sectors.
He added that students’ participation in this exhibition represents an important step in enabling them to apply their scientific knowledge in practical, development-oriented projects, which helps build a capable generation prepared to innovate in science and agriculture. He noted that such cooperation strengthens a supportive environment for research and innovation and contributes to achieving sustainable agricultural development goals in the Kingdom.
Dr. Juma affirmed that the Ministry of Education remains committed to supporting student initiatives that provide an applied learning environment and help turn ideas into real projects that serve the community and support the Kingdom’s development efforts.
The exhibition featured dozens of student projects, ranging from agricultural technology innovations and advanced farming systems to environmental and recycling projects. The top ten projects will be selected to represent students at the Bahrain Animal and Agriculture Production Show (Mara’ee 2025), providing them with an opportunity to engage with investors and specialised bodies and further develop their projects in the future.
