Nasser Centre for Science and Technology launches Cybersecurity Lab

Nasser Center for Science and Technology (NCST), in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), launched the Cybersecurity Lab at its headquarters in Khalifa City. This project supports the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national efforts to enhance cybersecurity and train skilled national personnel to protect Bahrain’s digital infrastructure. It aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, secure digital transformation, and the national cybersecurity strategy.

The lab offers advanced training with realistic simulations to equip trainees with skills to counter cyber threats and develop incident response plans. It helps prepare qualified personnel to protect digital infrastructure and supports ongoing cybersecurity improvements regionally and internationally.

Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, CEO of the NCSC, said the lab launch is a key step in developing national capabilities and enhancing institutional cooperation to face digital challenges. He noted that it reflects commitment to the national cybersecurity strategy and secure digital transformation.

On his part, Dr. Abdulla Nasser Al Nuaimi, CEO of the NCST, said the lab reflects the centre’s commitment to advancing education and technology by providing a modern training environment to meet current security challenges. He added that the lab supports national digital security by preparing Bahraini experts to protect institutions from cyber risks and foster technological innovation through practical training and professional simulations.

The lab’s first programme was a specialised workshop on building cybersecurity skills, featuring practical cloud security training using AWS and Terraform. National experts from strategic sectors including energy, transport, telecommunications, health, and finance participated. Organisations involved included the Information and eGovernment Authority, Supreme Council of Health, Bapco Energy, Bayan – Batelco, Bahrain Kuwait Bank, and Bahrain Airport Company.

The NCST continues to support Bahrain’s knowledge economy with advanced technical and educational initiatives, preparing a confident, skilled future generation to lead the digital transformation and realise leadership’s vision. The centre aims to establish the Kingdom as a regional hub for cybersecurity and technology sciences.
