The Future Generation Reserve (FGR) announced the signing of a strategic agreement with global healthcare company M42 to allocate a location within the Future Generation Reserve Tower development in Bahrain Bay for the establishment of Mubadala Health Bahrain.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit, held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The project will be M42's second healthcare facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, expanding specialised healthcare services, creating employment opportunities and strengthening healthcare cooperation between Bahrain and the UAE.
The project aims to attract high-value investments and strengthen Bahrain's position as a regional centre for advanced healthcare services. It is among the reserve’s strategic investments aimed at generating sustainable returns and supporting long-term economic development.
The reserve has allocated a dedicated building in a prominent waterfront location in Bahrain Bay to accommodate M42's international expertise and expand specialised healthcare services in the Kingdom.
Shaikh Ali bin Salman Al Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of the FGR, said the Future Generation Reserve was established to support long-term national development through strategic investments that create sustainable value for present and future generations.
Shaikh Ali bin Salman said the agreement reflects this vision by bringing Mubadala Health Bahrain to one of the Kingdom's prominent waterfront locations, enhancing Bahrain's attractiveness for high-value investment while supporting healthcare, economic resilience and quality of life.
Shaikh Fahad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Chairman of Mubadala Health Bahrain, said the project represents a strategic addition to Bahrain's healthcare system.
Shaikh Fahad bin Ahmed said the facility will provide specialised services in an integrated waterfront setting, creating a trusted healthcare destination that supports the Kingdom's healthcare priorities and brings high-quality clinical expertise closer to patients.
The facility will be developed through a joint venture between M42 and its Bahraini partner, HealthVision, combining multidisciplinary care, international clinical expertise and local service delivery capabilities within a single integrated destination.
Dimitris Moulavasilis, Group Chief Executive Officer of M42, said Bahrain is an important part of the company's regional growth strategy and its ambition to expand access to world-class healthcare.
Moulavasilis said Mubadala Health Bahrain reflects M42's approach to growth through trusted partnerships, long-term commitment and care models designed to strengthen healthcare system resilience and serve communities.
He added that the company and its partners aim to improve access to healthcare services, strengthen clinical capabilities and develop a more connected regional healthcare ecosystem.
Dr. Mohamed Ameen Al Saati, Chief Executive Officer of M42 Bahrain, said the next phase would focus on developing the project into a fully integrated facility with the operational readiness and clinical capabilities required to meet the Kingdom's healthcare needs.
He added that the facility would provide professional opportunities for local healthcare workers and support the development of Bahraini talent in specialised care.
Mubadala Health Bahrain is expected to offer services across 20 medical specialties, including six inpatient surgical specialties at opening.
Its clinical services will cover endocrinology, dentistry, gastroenterology, gynaecology, internal medicine, cardiology, orthopaedics, paediatrics, plastic surgery, urology, general surgery, ear, nose and throat medicine, oncology, dermatology, ophthalmology, neurology and physiotherapy.
These services will be complemented by advanced solutions in longevity medicine, precision medicine, genomics, artificial intelligence (AI), health and wellness, supporting an advanced model of specialised healthcare delivery in Bahrain.
The facility is also expected to create approximately 200 jobs, with an emphasis on recruiting Bahraini professionals and developing local capabilities in the healthcare sector.
The agreement reflects the FGR’s commitment, under the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, to attracting strategic investments that support economic diversification, leverage Bahrain's investment advantages and generate sustainable long-term development returns.
