The Kingdom of Bahrain secured a membership on the Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Institute for Statistics.

Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Bahrain National Commission for Education, Science, and Culture, expressed pride in the national support provided by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He said this support has enabled the ministry to compete internationally and secure membership in one of UNESCO’s key bodies, the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS).

Dr. Juma congratulated Dr. Shaikha Abdullah Mafiz, Director of Strategic Planning at the Ministry of Education, on earning the membership with distinction.

He noted that this achievement reflects the strength and capability of Bahrain’s education professionals, who continue to prove their talent and competitiveness in regional and international forums.

The announcement was made on the sidelines of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, where Dr. Mafiz, the Kingdom’s nominee from the Ministry of Education, was elected to the Board of the UIS.

This marks another achievement added to Bahrain’s record of success in international arenas.

This accomplishment represents international recognition of the competence and expertise of Bahraini professionals in educational statistics and strategic planning, reflecting growing confidence in the Kingdom’s role in advancing education at the regional and global levels.
