The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture signed agreements to allocate six agricultural plots to Bahraini farmers in Hoorat A’ali, covering a total area of 40,138 square metres.
The signing ceremony, attended by Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, and Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), was conducted through a public auction on the Government Land Investment Platform. Asim Abdulatif Abdullah, Undersecretary for Agriculture and Animal Wealth Affairs, signed the 10-year contracts, which include a one-year grace period to establish agricultural facilities.
Al Mubarak said the initiative supports the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to strengthen food security and develop the agricultural sector, in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to empower Bahraini farmers. He also highlighted the support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Advisory Council of NIAD, whose efforts continue to advance and sustain the sector.
He noted that the ministry is providing the plots with essential infrastructure, including treated and desalinated water and irrigation networks, as part of its strategy to expand sustainable agriculture and boost local production.
Shaikha Maram bint Isa said the allocation reflects close cooperation between the ministry and NIAD to help farmers expand production, enhance efficiency, and strengthen their role in national food security. She emphasised NIAD’s ongoing support for farmers through land provision, agricultural services, and development programmes.
Asim Abdulatif Abdullah added that the ministry continues to provide technical support and infrastructure to encourage innovation and improve productivity, with field teams conducting weekly visits in Hoorat A’ali to offer guidance and monitor irrigation and crop quality to ensure sustainable production.
