Assistant Foreign highlights Bahrain’s human rights strides

The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al-Doseri, took part today in the virtual forum under the title “Promoting and Protecting Human Rights: A Re-Dedication to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights”.
 
The virtual event  which was hosted by the United States of America, on the sidelines of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
 
Al-Doseri extended his thanks to the United States for organizing such an important event to shed light on the constant need of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
 
He notes that the Declaration is an important document that consolidates the principles of freedom, justice and peace to all people. He added that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the reform approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, has achieved significant accomplishments in various areas of human rights, through promoting and protecting rights and abiding by the related international conventions and covenants, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
 
He hailed the important role played by the United Nations and its constant efforts to promote human rights, stressing the importance of constructive cooperation with the UN and its different agencies in order to promote international cooperation in the field of human rights.
 
The event was opened by the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, where he underlined the need to draw back attention to the principles and values on which the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was based. A number of representatives of states, senior officials and experts in the field of human rights also participated in the event.
