KHGC organises dialogue session on International Day of Peace

The King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance (KHGC) organised a dialogue session titled "Shared Ground: A Dialogue on Shared Values Among Religious Communities" on the occasion of the International Day of Peace.

The session brought together representatives of religious communities and places of worship in the Kingdom, ambassadors, government officials, members of the Centre’s Board of Trustees, as well as religious and intellectual figures and individuals interested in dialogue and coexistence.

The session reflects the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to promote the values of coexistence, tolerance, and interfaith and intercultural dialogue, as well as the approach that the Kingdom continues to advance under the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in support of a culture of peace, understanding, and mutual respect.

Shaikha Maryam bint Humood Al Khalifa, Acting Director of Coexistence at KHGC, emphasised that peace is a daily practice reflected in communities, human relationships, and places of worship. She noted that meaningful dialogue is grounded in understanding and respecting diversity, while building on shared values to strengthen peace and serve society.

The session explored the contributions of religious communities to Bahraini society, the role of places of worship in strengthening community engagement and service, and the importance of humanitarian action as a value shared across faiths.

Participants also shared experiences that reflected solidarity and good neighbourliness, as well as the role of religious values and teachings in building peace and promoting respect and understanding. They highlighted the importance of continuing dialogue and cooperation among different religious communities in ways that contribute to strengthening a culture of coexistence and social cohesion.
