The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has won the GCC Digital Government Award in the Best Digital Inclusion Initiative category for its awareness initiative, Bu Rashid Family, at the seventh edition of the award in 2026, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
At the award ceremony, Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of the NCSC, received the award from General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior. The award highlights the importance of innovative digital initiatives and their role in promoting digital inclusion and raising cybersecurity awareness among all segments of society.
Bu Rashid Family is the first innovative national awareness model centred on a Bahraini digital family dedicated to cybersecurity awareness. Launched by the NCSC under the slogan "Cyber Awareness is a Way of Life", the initiative features digital characters portraying everyday situations and delivering awareness messages and practical guidance tailored to the needs of children, adolescents, older people, persons with disabilities, women and employees. It aims to promote safe digital practices and strengthen individuals’ ability to protect their privacy and guard against online fraud.
As part of efforts to further develop digital awareness tools, the digital assistant "Ask Amna" builds on the Bu Rashid Family initiative by using artificial intelligence (AI) to facilitate access to cybersecurity information and guidance, helping users address cyber challenges with greater awareness and responsibility.
The award reflects the NCSC’s efforts to develop innovative awareness initiatives that promote digital inclusion and foster a culture of safe digital technology use across all segments of society. These efforts support the development of a more aware and secure digital society and advance the Kingdom of Bahrain’s digital transformation.
