Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, inaugurated five ultra-fast electric vehicle charging stations, marking a key step in the Kingdom of Bahrain’s transition to clean and sustainable transport.
Located in Diyar Al Muharraq, the Avenues, Adliya, Liwan, and Durrat Al Bahrain, the stations can charge vehicles up to 80% in under 15 minutes, making them among the fastest in the region.
Humaidan said the initiative supports the Kingdom's carbon neutrality goals and promotes the use of renewable energy, including solar power. To encourage adoption, charging will be free for six months.
The ministry also launched a mobile app to help users locate charging stations, track availability in real time, and make digital payments, as part of efforts to modernise services and advance sustainable mobility.
